This will be a direct sequel taking place many decades after Reaper of Souls, the Diablo expansion Reaper of Souls, but Blizzard claims that it's focussing more on ordinary people and their struggles within the devastated world of Sanctuary, as opposed to the supernatural grandeur of demonic gods.

If you wanted to alter your capabilities then you simply changed the equipment you had on hand. But that's not true in D4. Of course, gear is important to your build but it's the skill selection that defines you as a player, and then you apply these decisions into the game.

The story is not linear, so you have the option of deciding how to play out the story. You're part of a shared world, you can choose to go exploring instead of engaging in the story if you desire to. You are free to go wherever you like within Sanctuary and explore dungeons or go do different things and become an international boss, or take part in local events. So you're in control.

It is possible to play it solo. It's a fun game to play solo however, you can also party up. You can be in a clan. Therefore, everything is about the things you decide to do.
